Every so often, life gives you an opportunity to try something new.

When that opportunity presents itself, you either grab it with both hands or let it sail idly by in the hope that one day it will return.

This week, I grabbed it with both hands.

New Beginnings

I’ve been blogging on Medium for almost two years. I was part of the Medium Partner Program and submitted stories to a variety of publications on a regular basis.

With the exception of my first month, I earned enough to get paid every month. Some paychecks were bigger than others, but for the most part, it was a modest, steady income for a side gig.

The extra money was nice, but it was never my main motivation. I love writing, and Medium gave me a publishing platform and an audience to write for. What more could I want?

Well, Medium made some changes to the Partner Program, which meant it was harder to reach my audience and find people to share those thoughts and ideas with.

So, I decided to go solo.

What is TechSalad?

After much deliberation, I found myself a web host, bought a domain, and built myself a website at techsalad.net.

The idea was to create a place to house everything I love to write about: tech news, reviews, and a healthy selection of how-tos.

Deciding on a site name was hard (especially given the availability of affordable domain names), but I settled on TechSalad because it was a fitting description of what I wanted to showcase.

A good salad has a variety of fresh ingredients that come together to make a final product that is better than the sum of its parts. And that’s exactly what I hope you will find at techsalad.net.

The site is live now, but it will continue to be tweaked over the next month or so as I finalize the layout and navigation.

TechSalad has all the articles that I originally published on Medium and will be the new home for my technology posts going forward.

What You Can Expect

If you were signed up to receive my posts by email on Medium, you will continue to receive those. However, they will come from TechSalad.net instead of Medium. Same content, different website.

If you follow me on Medium, I would love for you to do the same at techsalad.net. There’s an email subscription box at the bottom of the page.

I’m not selling anything. I won’t email you with special offers or encourage you to sign up for an online course; it’s just the blog posts.

Comments are enabled on all posts, but you are also welcome to reach out to me at info@techsalad.net with feedback, ideas, or suggestions.

See you online!
